Instant Words Translation

If you want to see more than one translation for a word, use ImTranslator Dictionary.  Dictionary is the integral part of ImTranslator and Google Translate extensions for major browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Yandex.

To get a quick word translation

Translate Words with ImTranslator

Select a word and:

  • click  imtranslator-small ImTranslator  button on the browser's toolbar
  • select  imtranslator-small ImTranslator from the context menu
  • use ImTranslator shortcut keys Ctrl+Alt+Z (default)
  • highlight the word without using any shortcut (set this mode in Options)
  • switch from the Translator mode to Dictionary mode and enter a word

 

Chrome-ImTranslator-Dictionary

The Dictionary covers over 90 language combinations with the English language and many other language pairs.

In the Dictionary you can listen to the pronunciation of the original word or its translation,  see reverse translations, or check the grammar information, such as part of speech.

 

Translate Words with the Pop-up Bubble Translator

Select a word and:

  • click the imtranslator-small floating button
  • use the context menu  imtranslator-smallImTranslator, then Pop-up Bubble
  • hold the shortcut key Alt (Chrome, Firefox) or Ctrl+Alt (Opera, Yandex) before or after selecting a word 
  • double-click the word without a shortcut key (enable the double-click translation in Options)
  • highlight the word without using any shortcut  (set this mode in Options)

The dictionary's translations are provided by the Google Translate service. Other providers, Microsoft (M) and Translator (T), display regular word translations.

Chrome-Pop-up-Dictionary

Pop-up Bubble opens the dictionary's translations.  You can see dictionary results with alternative translations and the grammar information, such a part of speech.  In addition to the translation variants, each dictionary entry  displays a set of reverse translations into the original language, if available.  You can also listen to the pronunciation of the original word and its translations.

 

Translate Words with the Inline Translator

Select a word and:

  • use the context menu  imtranslator-small ImTranslator, then choose Inline Translation
  • use shortcut keys Alt+C (Chrome, Firefox), Ctrl+Alt+C (Opera, Yandex)
  • highlight the word without using any shortcut (set this mode in Options)

Depending on your settings, the translations of the word will be displayed after or before the selection, or can simply replace the original.

You can get the word translation without pressing any key, by simply highlighting a word on a page.  To enbale this mode, open Options and remove the shortcut from the "Translate with shortcut" box ("None" will be displayed).  Now, when you select a word, the translation instantly appears.
